RE: Mt Shasta to Reno ??

If the weather holds we will be doing the reverse route back to Oregon about Dec 1. Good roads minimum traffic.

RE: Surge guard or autoformer

You will also notice that in NewRV5ver's post that the current draw went up. I have noticed that since I started using my 50 Amp Hughes autoformer which I have to convert down to 30 amp at many parks that I blow the circuit breaker a lot more often. I have to remember to see what I have left on like the water heater, refer, etc.

RE: duo therm air brisk heater

These units came preped with everything but the heat strip itself. The heat strip was an option that can be added at any time. My guess is yours has never been added.

RE: After sitting for a while

Try a little silicone spray on the jacks before you retract next time. My jack down light will go off then a minute or so later I get a loud bang. Keeping mine lubed has solved this problem.

RE: Camper Door Deadbolt

While the door is open place a transferable substance such as grease, paint etc on the end of the dead bolt. Close the door and try to lock the dead bolt. Open the door and the transferred substance should be on the striker plate where it is hitting. Remove area with file or grinder.

RE: What's Fair

First I will tell you I am solving the problem by leaving the campground this morning. I do feel I owe the plug to the guy because it is not his fault. Picking up and moving a 40 foot motorhome is a pain. Once the slides are out the awning and window awnings out the sat set up etc. That is why I asked not to have to move again and be allowed to use the adjoining site. The funny thing is there are lots of open sites and they still screwed up and gave out the one next to me. Just wanted to get a few opinions on how people would feel. It is funny how the feelings run depending on which one of us you related to when answering.

What's Fair

We checked in at our campground 8 days ago. We set up and leveled in our assigned site then when I went to plug in found the 50 amp plug and breaker were missing. We moved into the site next door which had a 50 amp plug and set up again. In the morning I notified the office of our move and they said no problem. Later that day I noticed that my refrigerator had not switched to electric and next we found the washer/dryer would not work. After checking out the entire coach I found that one leg of the 50 amp service was dead. I then moved my cord to the site next door which actually had a good working 50 amp service. I again notified the office of what I had done and this time was told they were aware that three sites in a row had electrical problems and that I did not have to move as they would not put anyone in the site I was plugged into. Five days later we returned from sightseeing to find a 40 foot dark colored motorhome next to us plugged into the 30 amp side. I immediately went over to talk to them. The husband was semi friendly but the wife was seething. With temperatures in the 90s one air will not cool their coach. She feels that they should not have to move and that I should give up the 50 amp plug. Somebody is going to have to bite the bullet here should I be the nice guy or just ignore them.

RE: Eden Pure in TT

Glad it works for you. We use one or two Honeywell ceramic heaters depending on the temp. Paid less than $30 for the pair. I am seeing more and more parks though that are banning electric heaters. They say it is for safety reasons I think they are trying to keep the electric bill down.

RE: How will current RV market affect RV shows?

In Portland Oregon I think the price just to park at the show last year was $7. This year they were advertising free parking. I still skipped the show.

RE: Reno parking lot / casino camping.

We passed through Reno on Friday. Instead of staying we went on to Hawthorne. Although Hawthorne only has one casino it welcomes RVs even providing a dump station and water. We are now in Pahrump where both the Nugget and Terribles are happy to let you park in their lots.

RE: Reno parking lot / casino camping.

This is more what I expected. It sounds like the ordinance has been around for a long time and the casino's are using it as an excuse to get rid of the trash filling up their parking lots. Too bad a few low life have ruined it for everyone.

Reno parking lot / casino camping.

I have read some posts on Reno Nevada prohibiting parking lot / casino camping lately. Just today on another forum I saw a post asking for people to start an e-mail campaign on Reno to get them to drop the "new" regulations. I have been unable to find any real instance of anyone being rousted / ticketed for parking lot camping in Reno. We will be passing through the area in a week or so and would appreciate any first hand recent information.

RE: Campground Memberships - Best To Have or Not?

I am an advocate for membership camping but; you need to run the numbers to see if it will work for you. First and foremost never purchase a new membership. Used memberships can be found at Craigslist or eBay for pennies on the dollar. If you purchase cheap enough you can always resell and not loose a whole lot. New memberships can run upwards to $10K, used you might be able to purchase the same membership for $1K. I recently purchased a Leisure Time membership with 12 parks for $100. Next where are the parks located? Will you use them enough to cover the annual dues? Annual dues in most cases will run $350 to $500 for multi park systems with single park memberships running about $100. In most cases if you are not going to use them at least 30 days a year you may want to forget buying a membership. Coast to Coast, RPI, ROD, and AOR are reciprocal networks which mean you must have a home park membership first before you can belong to them. They each have seperate fees.

RE: RV campground near Benson, AZ

Does anyone have a preference between Valley Vista RV Resort in Benson or St David RV Resort in St David? Thanks Of the two; St David is the nicer.

RE: Any RV-unfriendly cities along the US 101 in Oregon?

About the only places I know of to park on the Oregon coast are the casino in Lincoln City and the casino in North Bend, also Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookings offers free camping on Saturday nights from Memorial day through Labor Day. Other than that your chances of being rousted are pretty high.

RE: Parking RV & truck and staying at a Reno Hotel...

We were just in Reno a few months ago. Both the Peppermill and Atlantis used to allow dry camping in their lots but there were too many people taking advantage of it so that's out for now. You'll be fine in either since you're getting a room. Just let security know because they'll want to give you pass for your RV. The Atlantis has a larger lot. Have fun! We boondocked at the Atlantis the first of June but you did need to register and get a pass to put in your window.

RE: Praise for Roadmaster Service

I had the same kind of service on my Roadmaster Stowmaster tow bar. I took it in and they offered to ship it to me free of charge or I could wait an hour and it would be ready. I opted to wait and they were finished in about 30 minutes. Great company. They did apologize for not taking an hour though.
